Driving license and car registration renewals in the UAE are now super fast

The whole process only takes two hours…

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that they will simplify the process of renewing driver’s licenses and car registrations.

The program will start from Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, with deliveries taking up to two hours in Dubai and the same day in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

If you are not abroad, don’t worry as you can also send your license and registration.

How do I renew my subscription?

The process is relatively simple.First, you need to go to the RTA website here. Click on the “Drivers and Owners” tab and you will be redirected to a new web link.

Here, there are many options to choose from, but there are two options “Apply for Vehicle Renewal” and “Apply for Renewal of Driver’s License”.

If you are applying for vehicle registration, make sure you have all the necessary information at hand such as your Emirates ID as well as your driving license, your traffic registration code and your license plate number.

A vehicle inspection is still required, so be sure to complete this step before applying.

Applying for a driving license can be done with a number of different IDs, including your Emirates ID, current driver’s license and traffic code, or you can log into RTA using your account details.

Follow these steps and your driver’s license should arrive at your location the same day.

How much does it cost?

Once you’ve signed up for either service, a payment window will pop up where you’ll have to choose your delivery method. These include premium, same day, standard, and international shipping.

The premium service is only available in Dubai and costs only AED 50 – this service will get you your driver’s license in as little as two hours.

Same-day delivery is available in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah – this service costs AED 35 and ensures your driver’s license arrives on the same day. Standard service is available throughout the UAE, takes up to a week and costs Dhs20. International delivery takes up to 10 days and costs Dhs50.

However, please note that for premium and same day deliveries, the service is only available Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 12pm.
