iCodejr has partnered with 42 Abu Dhabi to host the grades 9-13 portion of the Abu Dhabi Battle of Code chapter, scheduled for 30 September. The Abu Dhabi chapter for grades 1-8 will be held on October 1st.
Code Battle is an annual, face-to-face, interscholastic coding competition designed to empower students to collaborate, develop cognitive innovation skills, and showcase their coding abilities. Students from grades 1-13 from various schools in the UAE were divided into 3 year groups: 1-4, 5-8 and 9-13 – the winning team from each emirate will have the opportunity to compete for the title of ‘National Champion’. As a team project, a maximum of 2 participants and a maximum of 3 participants are allowed per team.
Marcos Muller Habig, acting CEO of 42 Abu Dhabi, said: “We are honored to host a hackathon at our 42 Abu Dhabi campus and take part in the inaugural Code Battle in Abu Dhabi. 42 Abu Dhabi has enrolled 475 students, including 139 Emirati students, to reaffirm Abu Dhabi is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive educational infrastructure to prepare a future-ready workforce and equip UAE nationals with the skills to pursue professional careers in vital industries.”
Hannan Moti, co-founder of iCodejr said: “As coding continues to gain momentum in the UAE and the region, we wanted to make our Code Battle accessible outside of Dubai, where we are based. Hackathons like Code Battle Perfect for these young coders to expand their imaginations and explore their own abilities and what their coding knowledge can help them accomplish.”
In addition to the competition scheduled for September 30th to October 1st in Abu Dhabi (including Al Ain), the Sharjah chapter (including the northern emirates) will be held in late October and the winners of all three chapters will go on to Participation in the national competition level competition is planned for November 2023.
