UAE sets out to become green industry hub

Marketing any GCC country as a low-carbon business destination would have seemed absurd five years ago, but now the UAE is doing just that. Seeking to shed a reputation as a poster child for energy inefficiency and waste, the UAE’s leadership is increasingly positioning itself as a leading destination for the clean industry.

“For us in the Emiratis, we see this climate change debate as an opportunity. In fact, it is one of the biggest market opportunities,” Tariq al-Hashimi, director of technology adoption and development at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, said in May. told MEES on the sidelines of the UAE Climate Technology Conference in Abu Dhabi on the 10th. “In our strategy, we plan to lead the green industry of the future,” he said, noting that “we have made it very clear that economic growth, decarbonization and climate action are not mutually exclusive and that we can do both at the same time. ” (continued – 1534 words)
