An Emirati aid ship carrying 1,000 tonnes of supplies and food arrived in Port Sudan on Friday to provide emergency support to Sudanese refugees affected by the current situation in Sudan, which has displaced thousands of families and left them without basic food items.
The aid vessel is part of the UAE’s ongoing relief efforts in support of the Sudanese people and a manifestation of its humanitarian vision to mitigate the humanitarian impact the Sudanese people are facing as a result of the current crisis.
The UAE delivered more than 540 tonnes of food supplies and emergency medical supplies via 14 aircraft, bringing the total aid to Sudan to 1,540 tonnes.
Since the start of the conflict, the UAE has sent nine aircraft to Sudan to evacuate 997 people, including nationals from several countries, as part of its humanitarian efforts and commitment to strengthen global cooperation and solidarity, continuing its humanitarian-based approach Provide protection to civilians and provide assistance to states when needed.
The UAE also continued to provide all reception and care services to nationals of some 26 different countries who were evacuated via UAE aircraft before returning to their home countries.
