Rain and hail battered several parts of the country on Saturday, giving residents some respite from the summer heat that had already begun.

When rain falls on the mountains, nature reveals its truest beauty, creating landscapes and bringing the earth’s elements to life.

Authorities informed residents of the severe weather conditions on Twitter on Saturday. Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning urging motorists to “exercise caution due to rainy conditions and obey the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards”. Sharjah Police also reminded residents by issuing advisories and asking motorists to keep distance and reduce speed.

The National Weather Center released several videos showing heavy rain and wind blowing across the country. Heavy rain and strong winds can be seen in the video below, taken in Kalba, Sharjah.

The Storm Center has released a video showing the Masafi waterfalls gushing out of Khorfakkan’s Masafi after today’s rain. Cars are seen parked alongside and people stand in front of the stunning body of water and watch it splash down.

The same Twitter account shared a video of the Kalba hailstorm. Zooming in on the falling hail, the photographer can see chunks of ice falling, giving viewers a better look at the rare phenomenon.

In another short video, a resident captures a lightning strike during cloudy weather in Khorfakkan.

Another video from Khorfakkan shows the reef runoff and the moment recorded by a resident.

The center of the storm shared a video showing the drizzle in Fujairah. In the video below, a car can be seen driving across the hills towards town with raindrops on the windshield.

According to the NCM, rains were recorded in several parts of the country. These include Fujairah, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Another video shared by NCM shows how it really rains in the emirate. A car was driving at moderate speed, and heavy raindrops whizzed by.

Saw other cars drive by, splashing rain.

This morning, the UAE Meteorological Department informed residents of the possibility of rain.
