UAE helps Sindh govt build houses for flood victims

[ad_1]

KARACHI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday announced its support for the Pakistan People’s Party-led Sindh provincial government to build houses for flood victims in the province.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah and UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi in Karachi. During the meeting, it was agreed that the housing project would be completed soon. It was also agreed to further strengthen bilateral and trade relations between Pakistan and the UAE. In his speech, the envoy informed the Chief Minister of Sindh that investors from his country were keen to invest in Pakistan. He said all possible assistance was being provided to Pakistan on the order of the UAE government “and this will continue until the victim has fully recovered”.

Earlier, the Sindh cabinet had approved Rs 5,000 crore for the construction of houses damaged by recent heavy rains and subsequent floods.

“Each owner of a damaged house will be given Rs 50,000 to start construction and when the construction reaches foundation level, the remaining Rs 250,000 will be transferred to his bank account to complete the construction,” the CM decided after consultation with cabinet members.
