kabul [Afghanistan]May 23 (ANI): The World Health Organization (WHO) recently revealed that it has issued a warning over a possible spike in dengue fever cases in Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported.

The group said its medical staff were ready to contain the disease, also known as “breakbone fever,” nationwide in a country already hit by a humanitarian crisis, the Afghan News Agency reported.

“Dengue cases are likely to increase with the onset of the rainy season. We are preparing health workers to manage dengue cases,” WHO tweeted.

WHO is putting a lot of emphasis on training health workers to fight high-risk dengue in eastern Afghanistan. 300 medical specialists from eastern Afghanistan participated in a recent training course organized by the organization.

The organization added, “WHO recently trained 300 doctors, nurses and laboratory technician.”

Twelve groups of 65 female health professionals each participated in a three-day treatment program for dengue patients. The group also urged Afghans to take the necessary safety measures to protect their families from mosquito bites and stop dengue fever. (Arnie)
