Several pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai will be repurposed as local and international businesses, organizations and educational institutions set up shop at their former sites. Around 3,000 employees will be working at the Dubai Expo City offices by September.
Major tenants and new businesses launching operations include DP World, Emirates, Siemens Energy, Siemens Industries, Terminus Group, Engie and Gratiya Consultancy.
Dubai Expo City provides a favorable free zone environment and digital platform. Serving as a blueprint for “green” urban planning, it preserves 80 percent of Expo 2020’s infrastructure.
These are the former pavilions that will find new uses:
Australia Pavilion
It will house the University of Wollongong’s Center for Data Science, Discovery and Innovation. “The center will strengthen the University’s and Australia’s presence in the region, creating invaluable opportunities for students, researchers and industry to make a lasting impact,” said Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor Professor Patricia M. Davidson. China Pavilion
It will continue to support Sino-Arab relations and business development. The spokesperson of the pavilion said: “As a symbol of Sino-Arab friendship, the China Pavilion has been preserved and will become an important part of the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative. People-to-people bonds continue to develop at a high quality. (It will) support Chinese companies looking to invest and do business in the UAE, and serve as a hub for Chinese culture and stories through a variety of enriching activities.”
UAE Pavilion
This is being transformed into a “bespoke space” for the Emirates Group Innovation and Emerging Technology Centre. Sir Tim Clark, Emirates Airline President, said: “This will serve as a base for our innovation team, a venue for events and a space for global partners to collaborate with us on projects that will drive our vision for aviation and travel forward”

Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurs and SMEs — as well as governments, academia and research institutions — will join forces at Expo City. Its aim is to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global trade hub.

Dubai Expo City is a 15-minute drive city and all amenities and attractions are within 15 minutes walking or cycling distance.
