A romantic comedy about mistakes…
William Shakespeare is widely regarded as the greatest English writer and the greatest playwright in the world. Almost all of us may have read his work during school or watched a movie based on a popular drama.
However, this weekend, “Shakespeare in Love” will be staged at The Junction, where you can see the drama unfolding on stage. The play is adapted from the 1999 Oscar, Golden Globe and British Film Academy Award-winning film “Shakespeare in Love”.
So, what exactly is this show about?
This play tells the story of William Shakespeare-young, without ideas, and lack of money. To make matters worse, the deadline for his new play is approaching, which means that Shakespeare desperately needs inspiration.
Thankfully, he found his muse, Viola. This beautiful young woman is Will’s greatest admirer and will appear in his next play at all costs, including illegality. Of course, the plot followed.
What follows is a case of wrong identity, ruthless ingenuity, and behind-the-scenes highlights. As Shakespeare’s love for the viola blossomed, he was inspired to create his greatest masterpiece, which is full of balconies, swordsmanship, love triangles, false identities, penniless writers, comedies, romance, shipwreck, and a dog.
The play also showcases the true beauty of drama creation, allowing viewers to experience how artists are prepared and the challenges they face. This includes the fact that women were not allowed to perform in the Elizabethan era.
The play is produced by Dubai’s first youth theatre company (The Greenroom). This will be the first complete script of the company’s history.
