A Sudanese family stranded in the UAE has expressed its deep gratitude for making them feel at home and not just war-torn refugees. Asim Omar Hassan and his wife named their newborn twins Mohammed and Hind in gratitude for what the UAE has to offer them.

They consider themselves the lucky ones in the UAE to receive humanitarian assistance and support under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Hassan’s wife, who is in the final months of her pregnancy, plans to give birth in her home country. However, with war and hope of a speedy return lost, they find themselves stranded in Dubai.

Hassan told Arab newspaper Emarat Alyoum that they came to Dubai as tourists a month before last Ramadan and his wife needed a vital medical check-up. After completing all tasks related to the visit, they are ready to return to Sudan.

However, his wife faced health complications and doctors advised them to postpone the trip to ensure the health of the mother and unborn child. When they finally decided to return, war broke out, closing the doors of their homeland and leaving them stranded in the UAE.

Amid their plight, Hassan expressed his gratitude for the generosity, kindness and hospitality they have experienced on Emirati soil.

The medical team visits his wife regularly as part of their humanitarian duties. Doctors immediately decided to transfer her to a hospital in Dubai, where she gave birth to the twins.

Dua Mustafa Mohamed, the mother of the twins, expressed her heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the state. She said: “We are delighted to name our beloved children ‘Mohammad and Hind’ in honor of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his gracious wife Sheikh Hind “

Khalifa Baqer, Executive Director of Operations at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), said that on the directives of the Ruler of Dubai, a dedicated team was formed to provide comprehensive support and assistance to Sudanese nationals stranded in Dubai. This support includes regular medical supervision and care by DHA’s team of doctors and nursing staff.

After the mother was discharged from the hospital, the medical team will continue to monitor her condition and provide medical examination and consultation for her and the twins at any time.
