Second edition of Abu Dhabi Summer Games helps communities continue healthy lifestyles

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Summer Sports Championships (ADSS), which began earlier this week and runs until 12 August, aims to encourage community members to play sports in comfortable climates during the summer months, So as to develop a healthy lifestyle.

The second ADSS will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council,

ADSS is one of the largest events offering exceptional sporting events for athletes, reaffirming Abu Dhabi’s leading role in supporting sporting events through its world-class facilities and reinforcing the emirate’s position as the region’s sports capital.

The Abu Dhabi Summer Games offers great sports venues on 27 tracks and pitches set to the highest standard, totaling 27,000 square meters. This year’s Abu Dhabi Summer Games features two 7-sided football fields, three 5-sided football fields, eight padel tennis courts, three basketball courts (two of which are half-sized), six badminton courts, Three volleyball courts and a paddle court, a Technogym cardio and functional exercise center and a 1km running track.

Additionally, the second edition includes a host of new competitions and events for individuals, groups, families and exercise enthusiasts of all fitness levels. These events include four Champions League competitions in football, basketball, badminton and padel tennis, an International Yoga Day event on June 21, the Aloft Run for Charity on August 12, the Grand Indoor Cycling Challenge, Ring-The- Bell events and UAE Women’s Championship Day events. Contests and side events have been added to accommodate the high demand and successful turnout in the previous edition.

The Abu Dhabi Summer Games kicked off in the presence of Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADNEC Group, and Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ADNEC Group, said: “Following the huge success of the 2022 Summer Games, the Abu Dhabi Summer Games, now in its second edition this year, featured strong attendance and a wide range of sporting events and race.

ADSS offers sports enthusiasts and all community members an exceptional sporting event and an opportunity for individuals to increase their physical activity levels during the summer months in an air-conditioned environment equipped to the highest standard. “

The 2022 Abu Dhabi Summer Games attracted more than 39,000 visitors and featured 12 events. ADSS takes place in Halls 6-11 at ADNEC and welcomes sports enthusiasts daily from 8am to 1am.
