ABU DHABI, 8th June, 2023 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, was in attendance Graduation Ceremony of the Tenth Defense Course (2022-2023), held at Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi.
His Royal Highness congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their missions to serve the country, maintain national achievements and promote national interests. He urged them to apply the skills and knowledge acquired in the course to strengthen the capacity of their respective national institutions.
The program supports trainees to increase their analytical and strategic planning readiness and effectiveness, in line with the leadership’s vision of developing military and civilian leaders to enhance national security, while adapting to global developments.
His Highness commended the role of the Defense Academy in training and developing UAE military and civilian leaders who can adapt to the rapidly changing diplomatic, economic, information and military environment.
The National Defense Academy’s academic programs advance students’ skills by developing their research, analysis, evaluation, and implementation capabilities in strategic planning. These skills serve the highest goals and interests of the nation.
The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem, followed by the recitation of Quranic verses. The Dean of the Defense Academy, Major General Salim bin Hamar Al Shamsi, delivered a welcome speech, thanking His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his ongoing support of the Defense Course. He also thanked His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his presence, underscoring how the Academy’s work has led to comprehensive development of military and civilian leaders to address national and guided by the desire to challenge international security.
His Highness and attendees watched a video presentation showing the establishment of the College and an overview of its academic programs and areas of focus, including strategic planning, decision-making, instruments of state power, and other core and elective courses.
Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, a graduate of the 10th National Defense Program, said in a speech that the graduates will use their knowledge and skills to overcome challenges, contribute to the service of the country, and promote sustainable development. Sheikh Sultan also mentioned that the academic institution symbolizes the pinnacle of strategic thinking and encourages graduates to apply their knowledge to help the country move towards new heights of progress, prosperity, security and stability.
As part of the ceremony, His Royal Highness presented certificates to the 57 graduates of the Defense Program certifying that they had successfully met all academic requirements for the programme, and posed for a photo with the cohort.
His Highness was accompanied by Lieutenant General Issa Saif Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; and Major General Salim bin Harmal Al Shamsi, President of the Defense Academy.
