The Abu Dhabi Civil Defense, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, has closed down three establishments in the emirate for failing to comply with necessary security requirements.

This is part of the Civil Defence’s recently launched “Field Investigation” program to ensure security measures are in place in buildings and facilities to enhance the protection of life and property in the emirate.

“The closure of these establishments was based on reports from field investigations and inspection committees that monitor practices that threaten the safety of life and property,” the authority said.

Therefore, owners of buildings and institutions in the emirate are called upon to correct mistakes and irregularities, especially the lack of cleanliness of the grounds around the central gas tanks of certain buildings.

The authority also warned against making changes or additions without the prior approval of the Civil Defense.

It also warns against loose storage in rooms with generators, water pumps and corridors as this could impede the movement of emergency routes and exits.

It was also noted that the inspection committee found messy rooms and kitchens on the roofs of some buildings, lack of maintenance of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and that many bakeries and restaurants were using diesel tanks without permission from the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Organisation. They also monitored improperly stored gas cylinders, as well as a lack of fire alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency exits and clear signage.
