The emirate has just opened its doors to Abu Dhabi’s snowy peaks, but we’ll soon be able to climb a very different kind of white-topped altitude, according to an announcement from Modon Properties last night.
According to Surf Abu Dhabi, it is “the largest and most advanced artificial wave-making facility in the world”, and it is the water pearl Mount Everest launched from Surf Abu Dhabi WAM, Emirates News Agency. Set to open in late 2023, it is just the culmination of Hudayriyat Island’s expansive Modon masterplan, which also includes the region’s first velodrome and Abu Dhabi’s largest urban park.

The final product of Hudayriyat will consist of luxury residential properties nestled in and around two hill communities offering lush elevated desert island views. The city will also gain 53.5 kilometers of manicured coastline, of which a full 16 kilometers will be devoted to new beaches.
Jassem Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Finance and Chairman of Modon Properties, noted, “The master plan is in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Abu Dhabi. Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, has cemented Abu Dhabi’s position as a pioneer in forward-looking urban development.”
