United Nations, 17th June (PTI) — United Nations officials, agencies and member states said they look forward to attending the historic 9th International Yoga Day commemoration here next week, which will be led by Prime Minister Narendra Mohammad Di (Narendra Modi) chaired.

Prime Minister Modi will host a yoga class on the 9th International Yoga Day at the United Nations Headquarters on June 21.

United Nations officials and member states said on Twitter that they were eager to join the Indian leader in the Yoga Day celebrations.

In response, the WHO is also urging its member states to help their citizens reduce physical inactivity, one of the top 10 leading causes of death globally and a leading risk factor for non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes, the UN said.

International Yoga Day aims to raise awareness around the world of the many benefits of practicing yoga.
