WASHINGTON, June 21 (PTI) US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the US as a “watershed moment” in bilateral relations , and said this week will be one of those moments in history that can change course when two democracies come together for peace and prosperity.

“We’re just getting in the car together and we’re starting this voyage. The ascension of things that grow”.

“Let’s take this game changing and ecosystem watershed moment and bring those two things together. Let’s see tonight. That’s what it’s like to live in history. This week is a moment that can change the course of history One. I know our leaders will make it happen, but they’re counting on us to make it happen together,” he said on the eve of Prime Minister Modi’s official state visit, where he arrived on Wednesday for talks with President Joe Biden.

Modi is visiting the United States from June 21 to 24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. He will join the UN leadership and members of the international community at UN Headquarters to celebrate International Yoga Day.

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden will host Modi at a state dinner on June 22. The visit also included an address by the Prime Minister to a joint session of the US Congress on June 22.

“The first is the vision of the two leaders, Prime Minister Modi and President Biden, who came together and said that if we put our heads together, not just the two leaders, but our people, we will become an unstoppable force Power. And then our national security adviser came up with an uplift, iCET, the Critical Emerging Technologies Initiative, from seafloor to space, seafloor to sky, where we can see that kind of domain awareness in the ocean,” Garcetti said.

“After all, two democracies are about our people. 1.75 billion of them are unstoppable, the power of peace, prosperity, our planet and humanity,” Garcetti said.

India and the US can help work and protect the planet, bring peace and always look to the skies and beyond, he said.

“So, I hope we can find each other and lay the groundwork for this voyage. Something like a roadmap for defense industry collaboration, which will give us the mechanisms to move forward, the technologies that we’re relying on, in a very bold way, I want to thank this president, and I’m proud to be a part of this administration. This is unprecedented courage, not only between the United States and India, but I think the United States and any other country,” the senior U.S. diplomat said.

Garcetti said that with the launch of the iCET Dialogue, he hopes to see startups have the opportunity to participate in joint government-sponsored challenges to ask questions and say you solved them, to find technological solutions to our most pressing problems.

“Looking forward to the opportunity for startups to partner with established defense industry leaders. Over the next few months, I am excited to work with people in India and here to establish a mechanism to match and build these startups,” He said.

“We might think we know everyone there, but now there’s a woman in Hyderabad, or a man in North Carolina, and they don’t know they’re going to meet, but they have this amazing idea that these two will Together, they will not only increase linearly, but exponentially increase innovation, leading to greater gains,” he said.

“Expect projects like today that bring together experts and stakeholders and defense industry accelerators. In the long run, we are trying to create joint innovation funds that will spark innovation, certification and regulations. In fact, we must be able to find each other more easily. We have to be able to collaborate more easily,” he said.

Both India and the US need to be able to navigate their regulatory and bureaucratic cultures more easily, Garcetti said.

“I think if we’re harshly critical of ourselves — and we always have to be — then we can do a lot more to take advantage of the rhetoric of the moment and institutionalize it as the way we do business from the latest bureaucrat. way all the way to the leaders of our two countries,” he said.
