The former UFC light heavyweight champion was arrested in Las Vegas after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Former UFC champion Jonathan Dwight Jones, commonly known as Jon Jones, was arrested in Las Vegas after an accident at Caesars Palace and charged with household batteries and damaged vehicles.

Details of the incident that led to Jones’ arrest at the Las Vegas Strip Resort at 5:45 am on Friday (22:45 GMT on Thursday) were not immediately released by the Las Vegas police.

Prison and court records show that 34-year-old Jones paid $8,000 in bail and is scheduled to appear in court for the first time on Saturday. The prosecutor’s date for criminal charges is October 26. Domestic battery charging is a misdemeanor. The vehicle toll is a felony, with reported losses exceeding $5,000.

It is unclear whether Jones has a lawyer.

Caesars Entertainment Inc declined to comment, citing an active police investigation.

“Jackson Wink College is aware of these allegations and is conducting its own review of the matter. It is inappropriate to comment further at this time,” said James Hallinan, spokesperson for the Albuquerque Stadium in New Mexico where Jones trained.

Jones lives in Albuquerque, but he attended the UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the MGM Park Hotel on Thursday night in recognition of his 2013 game with Alexander Gustafson.

Jones (26 wins, 1 loss, 1 game) has served as the UFC light heavyweight champion three times from 2011 to 2020. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history.

But his UFC career is also defined by misconduct outside the cage.

In 2012, a year after becoming the youngest champion in UFC history, Jones was arrested for drunk driving after crashing a Bentley into a telephone pole in northern Binghamton, New York.

Jones subsequently lost his title in 2015 when he was arrested and charged with a felony of a broken arm of a pregnant driver in a hit-and-run accident in New Mexico.

Jones did not dispute the misconduct after an accident with a waitress in a strip club in Albuquerque in 2019. He was arrested last year in Albuquerque for serious drunk driving and negligent use of a gun.

Jones failed several drug tests by the US Anti-Doping Agency, which is responsible for managing the UFC’s anti-doping program.

In 2016, in a battle with Daniel Cormier at UFC 200, after testing positive for two prohibited substances, he was forced to withdraw from the two drugs that he blamed on sex enhancers. Banned substances.

In 2017, he tested positive for anabolic steroids, which prompted the UFC to deprive him of his light heavyweight title for the second time. The California State Sports Commission overturned his victory over Cormyr at UFC 214, and Jones was suspended for 15 months.

Due to arrest, suspension and various disputes with the UFC, Jones has only participated in eight games in the past eight years during the golden period of his career. Since defeating Dominick Reyes (Dominick Reyes) in February 2020 to achieve his fourth consecutive victory, he has not participated in the game again.

Jones gave up his light heavyweight title last year and said before Thursday’s Hall of Fame awards ceremony that he hopes the next game will be the heavyweight. He told ESPN that his current weight is 115.5 kg (255 lbs) and his ideal weight is 270 lbs.

His goal is to fight the winner of a possible upcoming match between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane next year. The date has not yet been disclosed.

“I want a belt, really. I want a belt, I want big money,” he said.
