The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Mariam bint Mohammed Al Khairi, Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Prime Minister of the UAE Economic Union, and representatives of several strategic partners from the government and the private sector.
In his speech, Prime Minister Nusseibeh highlighted the pivotal role that the UAE Union University plays in advancing the country’s strategic goals for sustainable development. He confirmed that the UAEU COP28 and subsequent roadmap will encourage efforts in line with the UAE 2050 Net Zero Emissions Strategic Initiative and the COP28 Agenda.
The roadmap has three main themes: research and innovation, youth empowerment, and local and international partnerships. Work under these themes is among 35 initiatives with measurable results that have not only started but will continue after COP28. These initiatives focus on sustainable energy, waste reduction and reuse of natural resources.
