Nairobi [Kenya]June 25 (ANI/WAM): The UAE, represented by the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program (SZHP), participated in the second session of the United “Urban Futures Through Inclusive and Effective Multilateralism: Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in a Time of Global Crisis.
Eng Mohamed Al Mansouri, Director of SZHP, led the UAE delegation to the Congress, where important issues related to housing and urban development were discussed. He issued the UAE National Statement, emphasizing the country’s commitment to take accelerated and serious measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strike a balance between socio-economic development and environmental protection.
Eng Al Mansouri also participated in a panel session titled “Affordable Living and Adequate Affordable Housing for All” organized by the Government of Malaysia to highlight the importance of low cost housing and its considerable social, economic and environmental benefits. Delegates met their counterparts from Asia-Pacific and Arab countries to strengthen cooperation in the housing sector and secure the UAE’s endorsement for the nominee for the chairmanship of the General Assembly during the 2025 elections.
The UAE delegation highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s role as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), and expressed its support for the Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing, scheduled to be held in Libya at the end of October 2023.
