WATCH: Chairs and debris fly over cruise ship in U.S. torrential rain | World News

On June 16, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship in Florida, USA was hit by heavy rain, and a video of furniture flying over the deck went viral on social media.

Video showed passengers fleeing for their lives as dangerous high-speed winds battered the ship. Tables and chairs fluttered in the wind, and tourists in swimsuits clung to the walls.

Passengers on board were basking in the sun by the pool when suddenly strong winds and heavy rain blew up. They were also filmed gliding across the slick deck and dodging midair chairs and umbrellas.

Royal Caribbean said in a statement that no passengers were seriously injured by the lightning storm. The company told Distractify: “On Friday, June 16, the Independence of the Seas experienced a sudden gust of wind as it departed Port Canaveral. The most recent condition was short-lived and there were no serious injuries to our guests or crew.”

It added that the ship continued on its scheduled three-night itinerary and arrived in the Bahamas on Saturday.
