For Emiratis and expatriates in the UAE capital, the joyful Eid al-Adha is a remarkable time to cherish family gatherings and exchange wishes for the health, prosperity and well-being of everyone in the world.

For community members, the auspicious day begins with prayers at the mosque, followed by a time to gather with family and friends, prepare and eat a sumptuous lunch.

Importantly, the UAE hosts an exciting array of special events, events and fireworks displays throughout the week for people of all ages.

Omran Al Khoury noted that Eid al-Fitr is a special time for families in Abu Dhabi to come together.

“It goes beyond mere celebration to a deep tribute to sacrifice and conviction. We come together under one roof, hand in hand with dear families, to cherish age-old traditions and create lasting memories. From drinking coffee together, having a good time on a date, to exploring fascinating local destinations, every experience fills our hearts with warmth and joy.”

For the Alblooshi family, this Eid is also a day of reunion. Sharifa Alblooshi spent some quality time with her nephews and nieces Meera Al Blooshi, Maha Al Blooshi, Mariam Al Blooshi and Theyab Al Tenaiji.

“We started by putting on our Eid attire for prayers. The joy of this auspicious occasion was in the air as we enjoyed a family Eid breakfast with our loved ones, tasting good food, sharing laughter and stories. Then we started visiting our dear family, No matter how far or near.”

Sharifah highlighted Eidiya’s important tradition of gifting cash to children and family members.

“With gifts and with a lot of devotion, we happily distribute ‘Eidiya’ to the children – a symbol of love and blessings. Additionally, we participate in a time-honored tradition during the day, symbolizing our devotion and willingness to give back Together, we will ensure that the joy of this celebration reaches all and fosters unity and compassion within our community.”

Maintaining family ties is very important to the Al Riyami family and Eid al-Fitr is a time for harmony.

“A festival like Eid al-Fitr is meaningful for the whole family to celebrate together. It’s all about sharing and caring for each other. The children love such a festival. They are eagerly waiting for the charming Fireworks shows and events.

This Eid al-Fitr proved to be the best celebration we have experienced in recent years,” he added.

The Riami family gathered with family members including cousins and nephews.

Meanwhile, today is a working day for the Raymundo family, employed at Otoro, a modern Japanese restaurant in the vibrant seaside destination of Al Qana. The Filipino couple will make the most of the holiday evening’s activities, including a desert safari.

“This is the best week to experience Abu Dhabi. There are a lot of events happening in the emirate. We will be visiting different locations,” said Mara.

“I’m an avid basketball player and I plan to visit ADNEC for summer sports this week,” Eduardo said.
