Pete Davidson and Colin Jost have ambitious plans for their decommissioned Staten Island Ferry, as revealed on a recent episode of the Meyers Brothers Family Travel podcast like that. The 29-year-old “Bupkis” star shared an update on their progress in making their offshore purchases a reality.
“We just made all the plans and then had them do one of these computer-generated, ‘show you what it could be’ sort of things, and now we’re just handing it over to a couple of people,” he explained. “It looks like everything is going well, but it’s definitely going to be another five years.”
Their ultimate goal is to have the ferry dock in New York City from April through September or October, then move to Miami in the winter. The ferry will be transformed into a multi-purpose space with restaurants, concert venues, a cinema and even a few hotel rooms.
When podcast hosts Seth and Josh Meyers praised Davidson’s detailed plan, he humorously said he was “confident” in the purchase.
“Colin called me and he said, ‘Hey, can you take this call about the ferry?’ I was like, ‘Are we still working on that?'” he joked.
Despite future changes, the ferry will retain its name “Staten Island Ferry” when it opens to the public. However, Davidson revealed that legally the ship was registered under a different name and was jokingly referred to as “Titanic 2” during the purchase process.
Davidson stressed that they intend to preserve the original character of the ferry while refurbishing any parts that require repairs.
Speaking about the project, Davidson said: “It’s the biggest ferry, much bigger than all the others. I’m glad it didn’t go to waste or anything. It’s actually interesting that it’s going to be me and Cole. The problem of Lin’s life.”
