The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has identified the field of education for the Abu Dhabi Scholarships for outstanding Emirati students from top 150 international universities in 20 countries.
Except engineering, construction and manufacturing.
Adek noted that since 2015, the number of Emirati graduates on the Abu Dhabi scholarship has reached 1,690, while the program currently supports 660 students.
The program gives students the opportunity to realize their educational aspirations.
Adek recently announced the opening of applications for this year’s Abu Dhabi Scholarships, an annual program designed to provide outstanding Emirati students with a unique pathway to a personalized higher education journey to a world-class university.
Application deadline is 31st March 2023 and is open to high-performing UAE Year 12/Year 13 students and undergraduates aged 24 and under to fulfill their academic potential and contribute to the continued development of key industries upon graduation .
Last year, Adek launched a AED1.9 billion scholarship program that will fund the education of 6,000 students by 2028.
The Khotwa (RizeUp) scholarship scheme was launched to further increase access to education and open up new intellectual horizons for high school graduates.
The program aims to enhance academic capabilities while providing students from diverse academic and social backgrounds who have not previously acquired future-proof skills and a broad range of educational experience, enabling them to reach their full potential and contribute to the growth of knowledge in Abu Dhabi contributing economy.
Adek said the fully-funded scholarship program will create opportunities for students to study at community colleges in the United States and Canada for two years, and then transfer credits to any international or local university to complete a bachelor’s degree if necessary and meet requirements.
At the launch of the Khotwa (RizeUp) scholarship program, Adek said it aimed to enroll 100 students in the first cohort in 2022 and increase every year to reach a total of 6,000 scholarship beneficiaries by 2028.
Students from Abu Dhabi’s public, private and charter schools who achieve a GPA of at least 65% in the Year 12 final exam are eligible to apply for the Khotwa (RizeUp) programme, provided they have a minimum IELTS score of 3.0. The same criteria apply to NS graduates without a bachelor’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates whose families are receiving social support.
This more accessible admission criteria enables more Emirati students who have not previously been awarded scholarships to study abroad in fields that meet their passion and meet demand in areas of high national priority.
