Budget carrier Abu Dhabi Air Arabia will soon join its network of Indian routes, flying to Kolkata in eastern India. The airline already flies to six cities in India and has also added several other destinations to its network in the past few months. The latest service to Kolkata will start next month.
New flight to Kolkata
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi Recently announced the launch of a new direct route connecting Abu Dhabi and Kolkata, India. The flight started on March 15 and operates three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The airline will likely do well on this route as no other airline currently offers direct flights between Kolkata and Abu Dhabi. Air Arabia Group CEO Adel Al Ali commented,
“We are delighted to launch this new route to offer our customers a wider choice of destinations in India. Kolkata is a vibrant city and this new service will allow us to offer our customer base more convenient and affordable business, leisure and cultural exchange opportunities between the two countries.”

Kolkata will be Abu Dhabi Airways’ seventh destination in India. The airline has flown to Cochin, Calicut, Trivandrum, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Per ch-aviation, the Abu Dhabi-based airline has a fleet of eight Airbus A320 aircraft, while parent company Air Arabia also flies the new-generation A320neos and A321neos.

Kolkata is not the only new destination recently announced by Air Arabia Abu Dhabi. Just a few days ago, the low-cost carrier unveiled two new routes from Abu Dhabi to Baghdad and Erbil, Iraq. Beginning June 22, direct flights will connect Abu Dhabi International Airport with Baghdad International Airport and Erbil International Airport twice a week.

Earlier this month, the low-cost airline also announced that it would launch a new route from Abu Dhabi to Amman on March 12. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi continues to add more connections and its network now covers multiple destinations in the region including Tashkent, Alexandria, Sohag, Cairo, Dhaka, Khartoum, Chittagong, Kathmandu, Musca Salalah, Trabzon, Tbilisi, Faisalabad, Multan, Cochin, Calicut, Trivandrum, Istanbul Sabiha, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmad Dabad, Bahrain, etc.

The low-cost carrier has continued to grow even during the pandemic and expects its annual passenger traffic to grow by about 25% by the mid-2020s.
