Zawya Projects has confirmed that Abu Dhabi Airports (ADA) will announce the architects for Bombardier’s first full-service center in the UAE at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in 2023.
“We haven’t appointed an architect yet, but the ADA will make an announcement next year,” an ADA spokesperson told Zawya Projects EXCLUSIVELY at the service center’s official groundbreaking ceremony
“Abu Dhabi Airports is the developer of the project and they will manage all aspects of construction, including construction tenders,” added Zeshan Malik, Bombardier’s senior director of corporate development, in an exclusive email interview with Zawya Projects.
The service center will be Bombardier’s first full-service facility in the UAE and will feature a hangar, comprehensive parts depot and a full suite of maintenance services, including scheduled and unscheduled overhauls, aircraft modifications, paint modifications, aircraft grounding (AOG) capabilities, and aircraft parking services.
“This is our major expansion plan for the MENA region over the next five years,” Malik said, adding that the project represents their long-term commitment to customers in this key market. “But we will constantly evaluate the market and do what is best for our customers,” he said, without giving further details.
It is targeted to open in 2025 and once fully operational should help the business jet maker continue to expand and increase its aftermarket revenue beyond 2025.
The new facility will serve regional and global customers for Bombardier’s Learjet, Challenger and Globe aircraft families, the company said in a press statement.
It will also be able to accommodate up to four Global 7500 aircraft and will be able to service the new-age new flagship Global 8000, which is due to enter service in 2025, the statement said.
Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, said in an official statement: “The presence of Bombardier underscores Abu Dhabi Airports’ commitment to general aviation and is an important step in making Abu Dhabi a general aviation hub. One step in the area.”

When operating at full capacity, the new OEM Operations Service Facility (Original Equipment Manufacturer) will also add more than 100 aerospace jobs to the community, strengthening Bombardier’s presence in the UAE capital.
