Abu Dhabi Airports Sign Agreement to Accelerate Future of Advanced Air Mobility

Abu Dhabi Airports has signed a memorandum of understanding with leading French engineering and operations company Groupe ADP to explore the potential of Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), a type of aviation using electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) new concept of transport) aircraft to transport people and cargo.

The strategic partnership was signed by His Excellency Eng at Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2022. Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, and Philippe Martinet, Managing Director of ADP Airport Services Group, in the presence of His Excellency Nader Al Hammadi, Member of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Airports.

Under the terms of the agreement, Abu Dhabi Airports and ADP Group will participate in the joint planning, design, development and operation of AAM’s ground infrastructure in Abu Dhabi, and engage with stakeholders, conduct feasibility studies and market assessments to develop the industry’s route picture.

“We are delighted to partner with industry-leading Groupe ADP to explore the potential to bring AAM to Abu Dhabi,” Lord Inge said. Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO, Abu Dhabi Airports.

“This new system combines flight technology with transformational aircraft designs that utilize electrical power for vertical hover, take-off and landing, enabling sustainable passenger and cargo air transport.

“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to leading the way by working with our partners to deliver innovation and technology that improves efficiency, convenience and most importantly, sustainability.”

“With our hands-on experience in the Paris region today, and our deep understanding of the industry, its infrastructure and operational challenges, we will support Abu Dhabi Airports in laying the groundwork for the implementation of AAM services in Abu Dhabi.
