Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce hosts Brazilian Coffee Week

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), in partnership with the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Embassy in the UAE, is hosting the “Brazilian Coffee Week”. The event highlighted the importance of coffee trade to economic growth and created new business opportunities for the coffee industry between Abu Dhabi and Brazil.

The Brazilian Coffee Week was attended by HE Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Eliana Zugaib, Charge d’Affaires of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the UAE, and Rafael Solimeo, Director and Head of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other key representatives of the private sector.

In his opening remarks, HE Mohamed Helal Al Mheiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, said: “Coffee is one of the most traded commodities in the world. In 2020, the global coffee market reached US$102 billion. The market is expected to grow between 2021 and 2026. It will continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 4.3%. Currently, Brazil remains an ideal market for coffee trade, with reasonable prices.”

“In the UAE, we are a major proponent of trading this commodity, which brings key benefits to all parties. In addition to its contribution to driving economic growth, the people of the UAE and the region also love coffee, which has long been reflected in In our culture and tradition. So we aspire to be part of this market and support the export of coffee from Brazil to the UAE and other Arab countries,” he added.

As part of the event, Eliana Zugaib, Charge d’Affaires of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the UAE, highlighted the history and importance of coffee to the Brazilian economy and trade. She said: “We are delighted to organise the Brazilian Coffee Week in partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the six UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry that are involved in the project. We think it is a great way to share our know-how and the quality of Brazilian coffee with our UAE friends Opportunities. As the world’s largest coffee producer and exporter, and the second largest consumer market, we are sure that we can forge more partnerships and business opportunities between the two countries. We look forward to celebrating the friendship between the Brazilians and the Emiratis. Friendship while tasting some of the best Brazilian coffee.”

Rafael Solimeo, Director and Head of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, presented the latest data on the coffee trade and opportunities for the coffee industry. He said: “We believe Brazilian Coffee Week will add more value to this growth as it provides stakeholders with an ideal platform to showcase their products and explore potential business opportunities in the region. By hosting these roadshows, The Chamber also seeks to promote bilateral trade alliances to boost Brazilian exports to Arab countries, including coffee, while also acknowledging the growing demand for coffee imports across the region.”

The event concluded with a networking session between Abu Dhabi’s private sector and Brazilian entities to promote business opportunities. Attendees also had the opportunity to experience a Brazilian coffee tasting.
