Abu Dhabi authorities have announced new traffic rules for delivery workers. Under regulatory procedures announced by the Joint Traffic Safety Committee, riders are prohibited from using the leftmost lane (also known as the “fast lane”) on roads with a speed limit of 100 kmph or more.

The Integrated Transport Center (ITC) said on Twitter that delivery motorcycles can be driven on the two right-hand tracks on three- and four-lane roads with a speed limit of 100 km/h and above. Riders must not use the leftmost lane.

On five-lane roads with a speed limit of 100 km and above, they can use the three lanes on the right. Delivery bikes are not allowed on the left two tracks.

“This measure aims to improve quality of life, improve traffic safety performance, and reduce the risk of accidents on highways,” the ITC posted on Twitter.
