Abu Dhabi Department of Health and Make-A-Wish Foundation spread joy in emirate’s healthcare facilities


Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Make-A-Wish Foundation (MAWF). Seriously ill children aged 3 to 18 and fulfilling their wishes to fill them with joy, hope and strength during their treatment at healthcare facilities in the emirate.

The MoU was signed by HE Hind Al Zaabi, Executive Director of Medical Facilities, Ministry of Health – Abu Dhabi and Hani Alzubaidi, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation, in the presence of Sheikha Noor Alqasimi, Board Member, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Tariq Alwahedi, Board Member, Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This collaboration will ensure that DoH provides MAWF with the necessary details and approvals to contact hospitalized children while maintaining the highest level of privacy and confidentiality. This will help both sides spread joy among the medical establishments in the emirate. Additionally, the MoU will enable MAWF to carry out several events and charitable activities on hospital premises with the approval and support of the Ministry of Health. Events like these will help demonstrate the importance of raising awareness of life-threatening medical conditions while putting a smile on children’s faces.

HE Hind Al Zaabi, Executive Director of Medical Facilities at the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health, said: “The collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and the Emirates Make-A-Wish Foundation underscores the importance of how this partnership can create strong results and ensure access to all members of the community. UAE Make-A-Wish Foundation was established in 2010 as a fully licensed organization under the patronage of HH Sheikha Shaikha Bint Saif Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It has become one of the most successful institutions to date, fulfilling more than 5,850 wishes for children with chronic or terminal illnesses. The goal is to strengthen the faith of these children, their families and loved ones, with the aim of bringing joy and hope to their young lives. MAWF is generously supported through the donations and participation of financially supporting institutions, corporations and philanthropic individuals, as well as through several service and in-kind donations.
