An Abu Dhabi resident has been awarded Dh300,000 in damages after he was seriously injured in a car crash that left him with memory loss.
The Abu Dhabi Supreme Court of Appeal upheld an earlier decision of the Court of Appeal that directed the insurance company that insures the car that caused the accident to pay the victim cash to compensate him for the physical, material and mental damage he suffered as a result of: Accident.
The man was seriously injured and his memory was weakened.
Official court documents said the victim had filed a lawsuit against the insurance company seeking Dh5 million in damages.
The man said he was on a road in Abu Dhabi when a car hit his car.

A traffic tribunal has issued a ruling placing the blame on the driver of the second vehicle that caused the crash.
The man then lodged a complaint with the Insurance Dispute Resolution and Resolution Board, which issued a decision ordering the insurer to pay the victim Dh150,000 for the physical, material and emotional damages he suffered.
The man challenged the Court of Commercial Appeal to increase the damages to Dh300,000.
The insurer challenged the Abu Dhabi Supreme Court decision, which rejected it and upheld the appeals court’s decision.
The insurance company has been told to pay the plaintiff’s legal costs.
