customer of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) Tokenized contactless payments can now be made using a range of wearable devices, including contactless payment rings and clasps with embedded contactless payment chips that attach to watches, bracelets or other Wear accessories.
To use the service, customers can use the bank’s ADIB Pay app to create a tokenized version of their existing ADIB Visa card and add it to a ring or clasp using the hive that comes with the device, which connects via Bluetooth to the application.
“Once configured, customers can quickly and easily make payments with the tap of their watch and be able to instantly view their ADIB Pay transaction history in the app,” the bank explained.
The clasp “can be attached to a variety of wrist wearables, instantly turning a wearable, ring or watch into a smart payment device,” the bank added.
“ADIB Pay will initially be available to select customers.”
ADIB is launching the service using wearable contactless payment technology developed by Tappy Technologies, which is Featured Hits in BBC Science Series January 2021.
