Stressing the judiciary’s interest in providing flexible mechanisms for resolving disputes involving foreign investors, Al Abri established the first foreign expert court in May 2019, which held its first hearing on June 11, And made the first bilingual judgment on June 25, 2019, according to the decision to establish the court, he said that the collegial panel of the foreign expert court consists of a judge and two foreign experts, and is responsible for adjudicating disputes related to enterprises, investment projects and business owners, and deliver judgments in Arabic and English, in line with the initiative to adopt English as a second language for judicial proceedings in Abu Dhabi courts so that justice is served without language barriers for all.
He explained that the Abu Dhabi Courts are adopting the unique litigation experience by launching various projects to facilitate multiple options such as remote litigation, whether in the claims and case registration stage or the case preparation and trial stage, as well as introducing self-registration services through The department’s electronic portal and case intelligence file and initiates video conference procedures for all cases, allowing all parties to participate in hearings from anywhere, in addition to issuing payment orders for commercial matters, receiverships, enforcement of check-related matters and the Office of Case Management (CMO) work.
It should be noted that, pursuant to Federal Decree No. 10 of 2017, which amended certain provisions of the Code of Civil Procedure, the legislator established a judicial committee consisting of a judge and two local (UAE citizens) or international (foreigners) experts Chamber.
