The headquarters of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), a major landmark in the UAE capital, was lit in a variety of hues on Monday night to mark the Indian festival of Hanukkah, Diwali.

The facade of Adnoc’s headquarters was illuminated in the presence of Sunjay Sudhir, the Indian ambassador to the UAE. The ambassador appreciated the gesture, tweeting: “You are not only part of India’s energy security, but also part of the celebration.”

The festival is being celebrated in grand fashion across the emirate, with several events lasting two weeks.

Abu Dhabi’s premier leisure and entertainment hub, Yas Island, will host a series of events from Monday to November 6, the day of the festival, ensuring an unforgettable experience for members of the community. There will be musical performances at the Etihad Arena, popular bhangra dancers and drummers on the Yas Bay waterfront, delicious food from celebrity chefs in India, a 3D light show and lots of prizes to win.

Until 29 October, visitors to Yas Bay Waterfront, Abu Dhabi’s vibrant dining and nightlife destination, will be lured by festive performances by bhangra dancers and dhol drummers on the boardwalk. In addition, there will be Diwali-themed roaming entertainment. People can experience both activities between 6pm and 10pm.
