Abu Dhabi launches ‘Industrial Talent Program’ to meet demand for knowledge jobs

ABU DHABI – The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has launched the Industrial Talent Program to develop, attract and enhance human capital in the industrial sector to meet the growing demand for knowledge-based jobs.

ADDED Deputy Minister Rashed Abdulkarim Al Blooshi made the announcement at the first Abu Dhabi Industrial Talent Congress, which brought together more than 100 executives from manufacturing companies, education and training institutions, as well as youth talent representatives to speak on key issues Topics and factors that contribute to talent development and job market efficiency are addressed.

The Industrial Talent Council was established to serve as a collaborative platform to address the industry’s talent goals.

The Industrial Talent Program – initiated by the ADDED Industrial Development Board (IDB) to achieve the goals of the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy (ADIS) – aims to develop and attract the required talent and upskill the existing workforce in Abu Dhabi’s industrial sector as It is experiencing exponential growth changing with the shift to advanced manufacturing methods and technologies.

The plan will consist of a series of activities over the next 5 years to match supply and demand in the job market by developing highly specialized talent in the industrial sector. These initiatives will include awareness sessions for students and employers, funded and co-funded training for new and existing employees, and motivation and talent attraction programs.

Working with key partners including Abu Dhabi Human Resources Authority, Department of Industry and Advanced Technology, Abu Dhabi Resident Office (ADRO), IDB leads the Industrial Talent Program to support the UAE’s thriving international community and position Abu Dhabi as a The premier destination for global talent, and the Abu Dhabi Youth Council. In addition, IDB will work closely with the manufacturer to ensure the successful execution of the next phase.

ADIS emphasizes the role of talent as a strategic pillar to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as the most competitive industrial hub in the region. Talent development is one of six transformational initiatives in Abu Dhabi’s AED10 billion investment to achieve ADIS’ ambitious goals, which include doubling the size of the manufacturing sector to AED172 billion and creating more than 13,600 skilled jobs jobs and increase non-oil exports to AED 17.88 billion by 2031.

Talent development programs are key to maximizing the strengths of other ADIS programmes; namely Industry 4.0, circular economy, ecosystem support, local supply chain and value chain development. With technological advancements in the industrial sector and the shift to Industry 4.0 approaches, methods and technologies, it is imperative to develop and upskill industrial talent to keep up with the demands of digital and technological transformation.

Based on ADIS’ targeted sub-sectors, the Industrial Talent Program will initially invest in developing, attracting and upscaling Emirati and international talent in the fields of food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, machinery, electrical and electronics, and transport.

The program aims to equip talent with technical and soft skills, including the fundamentals of technological advancements such as automation, Internet of Things, big data, digital and smart technologies, analytical thinking and adaptive flexibility.

The event to announce the Industrial Talent Program also saw the graduation of the first cohort of “Technology Champions”, a pilot program designed to equip workers at Abu Dhabi’s food manufacturing plants with Industry 4.0 skills.
