Abu Dhabi lights up diabetes awareness in blue

The emirate of Abu Dhabi saw the capital’s iconic landmarks lit up in blue last night to commemorate World Diabetes Day, which is held annually to spread awareness of diabetes prevention and care.

The initiative includes 13 landmarks around the city that are lighted up in blue; the color of the circle representing the universal symbol of diabetes. These include Mubadala Tower, Abu Dhabi City, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Emirates Palace, Hadza Stadium, Mohamed Bin Zayed University, W Hotel and Etihad Arena on Yas Island ; And many Mubadala medical institutions, such as the Diabetes Center of Imperial College London, HealthPlus Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Danat Al Emarat Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi.

Mubadala Health prioritizes diabetes care, education, training, and research, and continues to engage with the public to raise awareness of how to prevent or better manage diabetes.

Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, CEO of Mubadala Health, said: “The number of people with diabetes worldwide is expected to double by 2040. Therefore, by raising awareness and attracting public attention, our goal is to help break the disease Related stigma; encourage people to be screened before they develop symptoms; prevent complications; and emphasize the role of healthy lifestyle choices in controlling type 1 diabetes and preventing or controlling type 2 diabetes.”
