The aim is to bring joy to the community and welcome this precious moment.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has completed the decoration of major and minor streets, public squares and bridges across the emirate of Abu Dhabi with illuminated shapes and decorative images in celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
The aim is to bring joy to the community and welcome this precious moment.
Municipal teams from the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions worked to install the Eid decorative shapes as an addition to the Ramadan decorations, reflecting the spiritual significance of Eid for the community.
The shapes incorporate geometric designs, stars, crescent moons and Eid al-Fitr congratulatory messages. A number of lighting structures and formations were added specifically for Eid and installed on front light poles at each intersection of major and minor roads. The decor also encompasses the major bridges and prominent infrastructure landmarks that define Abu Dhabi’s city identity and cultural identity.
The decorations for Eid al-Fitr include greetings well-known in UAE society such as “Eid Mubarak”, “May you be blessed with many joys”, and many more expressions to wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr.
Multiple colors are incorporated into each decorative structure, giving them a unique sheen that sets them apart from other occasions. The annual decorative pieces have become part of the UAE’s deep-rooted traditions, relating to national and religious occasions and reflecting the identity and cultural and social heritage of the UAE community.
The decoration works are part of the effort to create an atmosphere of conviviality and well-being, which contributes to motivation and quality of life in Emirate society.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Transport is ensuring that lighting structures and structures used for Eid decorations are properly sized and safe for road users including vehicles and pedestrians. DMT also ensures that all trim is high quality, well insulated and weather resistant, and made from sustainable and environmentally friendly materials.
The effort is in line with the UAE’s goal of declaring 2023 as the Year of Sustainable Development, which aims to raise awareness of sustainable development and encourage individuals, institutions and businesses to adopt environmentally friendly practices. DMT is focused on promoting sustainable practices across all of its initiatives, projects and events, including the decorations used to celebrate Eid in Abu Dhabi.
