Abu Dhabi Parks and Beaches Reopens After Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms

Abu Dhabi Parks and Beaches Reopen With Safety Advice

Abu Dhabi has reopened its public parks, recreational facilities and affiliated beaches after temporarily closing them because of unstable weather conditions.

The facilities were closed as a precaution on Friday after heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds affected parts of the emirate. Abu Dhabi City Municipality announced the reopening on Saturday after weather conditions improved.

Residents and visitors can now return to the reopened public spaces, but authorities are urging people to continue following safety instructions. Beachgoers have been advised to swim only at designated beaches and follow approved safety guidelines.

Among the designated swimming locations are Corniche Beach and Al Bateen Public Beach. The weather situation, however, remains unsettled in parts of the UAE.

The National Centre of Meteorology issued a yellow alert on August 22, warning of possible rain, convective clouds, fresh to strong winds and blowing dust in affected areas.

Abu Dhabi Police has also urged motorists to drive carefully during unstable weather. Drivers have been advised to follow temporary speed limits when activated, maintain safe distances and avoid sudden braking.

Authorities have also warned residents to stay away from valleys and areas where rainwater has accumulated.

The reopening means residents can once again use Abu Dhabi‘s public parks and beaches, but people planning outdoor activities should continue monitoring weather conditions and follow official safety instructions.
