The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has arrested a gang of three who tried to smuggle 2.25 million tablets of the drug “Captagon” into boxes containing dried apricots before smuggling them into neighboring countries.
Brigadier General Tahel Ghalib Al Daheri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Criminal Security Department of the Abu Dhabi Police, revealed that the operation was successful after implementing a tight security plan to track the movements of the suspects and competent authorities in the UAE.
He explained that the anti-narcotics team followed all legal procedures to arrest the accused and seize several boxes of Captagon tablets, which they planned to sell domestically and smuggle the rest to neighboring countries.
One million captagon tablets and paraphernalia used for the preparation, processing and packaging of narcotic drugs for trafficking and promotion were seized.
He pointed to the professionalism of the Abu Dhabi Police in combating drug traffickers who do not hesitate to use various criminal methods to spread poison into society and target young people, and pointed out the importance of partnership and cooperation with relevant agencies and institutions.
