United Arab Emirates – Safeen, the maritime arm of AD Ports Group, has announced the acquisition of a support vessel to enhance its subsea services capabilities.
Built in 2014, the vessel will operate under the name “Safeen Surveyor” and will undergo extensive modifications before starting operations, including the installation of an integrated diving system to support pipeline repairs and maintenance.
The vessel has a successful track record in projects in the Middle East, where it provides a range of support services including subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) engineering.
The “Safeen Surveyor” is a Vik-Sandvik Design VS460 MKIII subsea service vessel equipped with a dynamic positioning system, accommodating 60 people, with a total length of 75.5 m and a deadweight tonnage of 6,300. It has a built-in 80T Active Heave Compensation (AHC) offshore crane and can be used in water depths up to 2,000m.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Maritime Cluster and Safeen Group, said: “The acquisition of ‘Safeen Surveyor’ is part of our broader expansion strategy to build capacity and enhance the portfolio of services we can offer our clients globally.”
“We see huge growth potential in the subsea support area, especially in inspection, repair and maintenance, where the ‘Safeen Surveyor’ is already doing well,” he said.
Describing the maritime services sector as extremely dynamic in the MENA region, Al Shaiba said: “We believe we have a compelling proposition backed by state-of-the-art infrastructure and fleet.”
He added that Safeen Group continued to expand its fleet as part of an ambitious growth plan aimed at providing a comprehensive service covering shipping, transshipment, offshore, subsea and marine services.
