Abu Dhabi, April 15: A grand Iftar gathering at the Indian Social and Cultural Center (ISC), organized by the Abu Dhabi chapter of Sahebaan, the leading society representing the Urdu-speaking Muslim community from the twin districts of Mangaluru and Udupi group.
The event started with recitation of Quranic verses and sermons by renowned scholar Abu Sufiyan Madani Masdar edu and charitable organisations.
The event was well attended by VIPs from the Karnataka NRI community in Dubai, Sharjah and other emirates.
In his welcome address, Althaf MS said: “Sahebaan Abu Dhabi hosts Eid every year, except during covid, thus providing a platform for the Sahebaan community to meet and greet, share Iftar together and Prayer. We should thank Althaf Khatib and Mohd Asif for initiating the Sahebaan and ensuring that it continues to this day.
“The Sahebaan Abu Dhabi team has been actively involved in community service over the past so many years by liaising with Jamaithul Falah Mangaluru, providing student scholarships, medical assistance, distribution of Ramadan kits and distribution of used clothes. These charitable activities continue.
“There are also plans to set up an NRI center in Mangaluru, and moreover, our sahebaan people are working hand in hand with empowerment and skills development institutes like ACE IAS Academy Mangaluru, run by the dynamic and successful Saheban of Mangaluru. and Beary community leaders,” he said.
He further added, “Our Saheeban patrons and leading Emirati businessmen Hidayathullah Abbas, Nisar Ahmed and Afroze Assadi were also expected to join us today but were unable to. They send their best wishes for today’s Eid program They have been a strong pillar of support in all of our programs. I take this opportunity to thank them. Let us also pray for their longevity and success.”

The event was attended by senior Sahebaan leaders Abu Mohammed, Adam Sheikh, Raheem Ahmed, Janab SA Siraj and Nazir Hussain.
Prominent figures from the Beary community Mohammad Ali Uchila, Abdulla Madumoole, Sheikh Bava, Abdul Hameed, Basheer Bajpe, Rafiq, Imran and Ravoof were in attendance.
