Abu Dhabi authorities conducted awareness-raising sessions with students on the dangers of drug abuse, its negative impact on individuals and society, and how to treat drug addicts.
The Abu Dhabi Law and Community Awareness Centre (“Masouleya”) of the Abu Dhabi Justice Department (ADJD) is hosting lectures as part of the Centre’s broader campaign to combat drugs and raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and addiction part of the plan.
The campaign was launched a few months ago to consolidate legal culture and raise social awareness to help maintain security and stability.
In two lectures for students at Ajyal International School in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Mohammed Rashid Al Dhanhani, consultant and director of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Law and Community Awareness, highlighted the physical and psychological effects of drug addiction, as well as the extent of drug use. Its threat and impact on the future of young people. He explains what the law thinks of a drug addict and how to help him or her receive treatment without punishment.
Al-Dhanhani advises young people to take precautions to avoid falling into the clutches of psychotropic drugs, systematically reject any advice from bad companies that could lead to abuse, choose friends carefully, and don’t hesitate to separate from anyone who might push them onto drugs road, and fostering relationships with family members because it is very important to have someone they can trust who can honestly talk to them about the hardships of life.
The lecturer also stressed the need to use free time wisely, stay away from drugs that only bring misery and desolation to consumers, seek expert help when encountering problems related to this scourge, and understand the risks and dangers. effects of drug addiction to better understand the importance of avoiding it.
Since its launch in May 2022, the anti-drug campaign has carried out a series of initiatives and activities, including intensive legal education sessions for students and students, aimed at raising awareness of these challenges and risks in a preventive manner aimed at protecting them from abused and addicted.
The campaign aims to promote legal awareness in innovative ways to target groups of young and new generations, represented by school students and parents, by providing promotional materials through diverse educational means and the use of modern technology. This is through various media platforms such as radio and television programmes, news reports, focusing on the use of social media platforms, through audiovisual and electronic content, widely disseminated at all levels of society, and the number of large leaflets published, including information on substance abuse, its dangers and basic information on negative effects.
