Abu Dhabi to host international organ transplant and donation conference next week

The conference aims to illuminate global experiences and best practices related to the scientific, philanthropic, social and legal aspects of organ donation, while raising community awareness of healthy living and disease prevention.

The National Transplant Council is made up of national and local strategic partners, including the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Multiple panel sessions, presentations and lectures will explore topics such as the global state of organ donation, the most prominent challenges facing institutions, the challenges of chronic renal failure and transplantation, parameters of brain death determination and the relationship between the two. Organ transplantation and personalized medicine. The conference will connect stakeholders who wish to collaborate on organ storage and donation. It will also illuminate the importance of international cooperation in bridging the gap between organ availability and transplant demand.

A concurrent art exhibition will showcase art and literature highlighting the history of local and global organ donation, as well as award-winning art drawings and inspiring stories from young organ recipients.

National Human Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation Programme Hayat is a national programme in the UAE that promotes the donation and transplantation of human organs and tissues in accordance with the highest international standards and practices. Hayat works with multiple strategic partners locally and globally to save lives, further improve the health and safety of communities and enhance the quality of life. The initiative is a collaboration between multiple federal and local authorities, including MoHAP, DoH, DHA, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha), Cleveland Abu Dhabi Clinic and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, as well as other public and private Institutional Healthcare Entity.
