Yas Island has been recreated in the virtual world as part of the first phase of replicating Abu Dhabi in the virtual world.
The initiative involves the Ministry of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Aldar, Miral, twofour54, Abu Dhabi Racing Management, Flash Entertainment and Yas Islandwhich will allow visitors to virtually visit many of the island’s attractions.
Yas Island Metaverse will allow users to build and purchase digital homes, explore cultural attractions, enjoy theme park adventures, special events, top golf courses and Yas Marina Circuit.
“As the emirate’s offerings evolve, this project offers a fresh and compelling perspective, allowing the world to discover Abu Dhabi in its own time and space,” said Saood Al Hosani, Deputy Minister of DCT Abu Dhabi.
“This innovative interactive platform is ideal for highlighting the extraordinary lifestyle, cultural and entertainment experiences Abu Dhabi offers all visitors, and will enable virtual residents and visitors to curate their own unique Abu Dhabi itineraries in a whole new realm .Reality.”
DCT Abu Dhabi said the project is currently in the development phase.
It added that the island is being rebuilt using “multiple world-leading virtual world platforms including The Sandbox and Roblox, powered by Super League Gaming”.
Once completed in the first quarter of 2023, it will be live and fully available to digital visitors.
Organizations across the UAE are expanding their participation in the Metaverse to align with the nation’s digital push.
