Abu Dhabi University receives WASC’s highest accreditation

WASC reaccreditation brings ADU to work with some of the most prestigious universities in North America and the world

Reaccreditation awarded to ADU for continued innovation in curriculum development, degree relevance and commitment to placing students at the heart of the institution

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Student-focused Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has received the highest honor accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a ten-year, no-holds-barred full re-accreditation, the world A well-known accreditation association, one of the six largest regional accreditation bodies in the United States. This unique award comes after months of careful scrutiny of ADU by a distinguished panel of educators across the U.S., including a week-long field trip and final overview earlier this year by the WASC Senior College and University Council. In 2016, WASC began accrediting universities in the MENA region, and ADU was the first higher education institution to receive this accreditation that year. The re-accreditation was accompanied by 16 recognitions from the University, including awards for excellence that put students at the heart of the school, and awards for innovation in curriculum development and degree relevance. This WASC re-accreditation brings ADU to work with some of the most prestigious universities in North America and the world.

Commenting on the occasion, Professor Waqar Ahmad, President of Abu Dhabi University (ADU), said: “We at ADU are delighted to have been reaffirmed by the Qualification Review Team from WASC. The ranks of other highly acclaimed higher education institutions with full ten-year accreditation. Since our inception, we have put students at the forefront of our education strategy – we are committed to continuously improving our programmes and delivering exciting knowledge networking opportunities and best prepare students for their future careers.”

He added: “I am very grateful to the excellent staff at WASC and the entire review team for the care and insight they brought to the review. I look forward to participating in WASC over the next decade as we grow into the largest private university in the UAE.”

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six largest regional accrediting agencies in the United States. The purpose of the committee is to promote excellence in elementary, secondary, adult and higher education institutions and complementary education programs. The committee encourages school improvement through a continuous evaluation process and recognizes institutions by awarding accreditation to high-quality schools that meet established standards.

To provide a comprehensive learning experience and ensure student satisfaction, ADU’s faculty, staff and student body are regularly surveyed to provide their feedback on on- and off-campus tools, programs and the overall educational journey.
