What is your growth strategy in the post-Covid-19 era?
Since its founding in 2018, G42 has continually reimagine what technology can do, applying advanced thinking and innovation to accelerate progress while exploring the next frontiers of breakthroughs. The UAE is transitioning from a natural resource economy to a knowledge economy, for which technology will play a key role. The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated many of these trends globally as organizations become more reliant on technology and more interested in their digital transformation.
Going forward, the G42 will continue to disrupt the status quo and find ways in which AI and technology can benefit organizations and societies. Through strategic partnerships and collaborations with countries and organizations, our operating companies will deploy impactful AI solutions and optimize to transform a wide range of industries such as healthcare, smart cities, government, financial services, oil and Gas, education, geospatial, aviation, sports.
How do you assess the future of technology in terms of providing solutions to various challenges in energy, healthcare and the environment?
For us, the answer is always “yes” when it comes to society’s most important questions and challenges. Our curious nature and purposeful focus help us understand where the world can go and our role. Our ecosystem is able to provide a full range of AI solutions across industries, thanks to end-to-end products and services, from design-send-development datacenters to geospatial intelligence and everything in between.
As the world evolves, technology will continue to play an integral role in advancing and transforming society. The future of our environment depends on the smart decisions we make today, so we’re looking at how we can create a more sustainable and better future in every aspect of our work.
For example, G42 and our operating companies are becoming a model for sustainable and responsible technology solutions in line with the UAE’s vision for net-zero emissions by 2050. Knowing that cloud computing’s primary impact on the environment is powering servers and the sheer amount of electricity needed to stay cool – especially in a climate like the UAE, where temperatures are naturally hot – Khazna data center facilities are equipped with solar panels and efficient use cycles Water cooling system. The company will soon use artificial intelligence to collect real-time data across facilities to pinpoint where upgrades will lead to greater efficiencies.
G42 Healthcare is leveraging data and emerging technologies to create a transformative shift in the traditional healthcare paradigm. The company established the region’s first dedicated contract research organization (IROS) for conducting clinical research with and for local populations, and established the largest and most technologically advanced Omics facility in the region, the Omics Center of Excellence. As the enabler of the 1 million UAE genomes initiative, G42 Healthcare is one of the largest sequencing-as-a-service providers in the region, and together with its multi-omics products, consumer genomics and wastewater analysis programs, the company enables precise, predictive and Personalize and population health, accelerate innovation and R&D efforts, and make informed decisions based on big data across healthcare.
Finally, while addressing the issue of smart and urban transportation, we recently launched a fleet of AV taxis called TXAI, driving the advancement of intelligent transportation. As a step toward developing innovative mobility solutions, these advancements will redefine public transportation using autonomous and electric vehicles and have the potential to be successful in other settings such as public transportation or law enforcement.
