DUBAI: Mixed-race model Amira Al-Zuhair walks the runway at Milan Fashion Week, sporting an all-black look for Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana.

Al-Zuhair wears a tailored blazer with black rosettes on the lapels. The chic, masculine look features a black tie, black leggings and point-toe pumps with thin straps at the ankle. Al-Zuhair’s beauty is centered on a dramatic red lip and sleek bun.

Black designs dominated the runway at Dolce & Gabbana’s Milan Fashion Week show on Saturday, with the Italian luxury label offering a plethora of dresses, suits and coats for next winter’s women’s wardrobes.

According to Reuters, the duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana opened their Fall/Winter 2023-2024 show with a sheer black dress with a fur collar and black gloves.

Then there were trousers and coats, and sheer dresses in lace, tulle and chiffon, and sometimes embroidered dresses. In the collection called “Sensual”, a cropped black jacket and trousers are paired with a white shirt and black tie.

“Sensuality is an important aspect of femininity and has nothing to do with sexiness,” the designers said in their show notes.

“Sensuality is intrinsically linked to an inner experience that makes a woman spontaneous and natural. Nothing fabricated.”

Dolce & Gabbana also had shiny gold and silver designs, including draped dresses and belted macs. A gold collar stands out against a black lace top.

There was also a range of all-red looks—suits, leggings, and shoes—as well as white satin or chiffon dresses, trousers, and coats.

Details include sparkling black crystals and a black feather on the collar.

Al-Zuhair was born in Paris to a French mother and a Saudi father. However, she grew up in London. The family travels frequently between the UK and Riyadh, so Al-Zuhair has a strong cultural and emotional attachment to the kingdom.

“I love Saudi Arabia. It’s a big part of who I am and I’m really grateful for everything that’s happening right now – cultural, educational, economic and infrastructure progress,” she previously told Arab News. “The current leadership has done a fantastic job of putting the country at the forefront of the global stage and I am very proud to see these changes.”

Although Al-Zuhair grew up in Europe, she said she was raised with “traditional values”. From the beginning, she knew exactly what she was going to do as a model, and what she wasn’t going to do.

“I think the industry is very accommodating,” she said. “It’s all about the boundaries you set. My agency is great – those boundaries are respected in every aspect of my work and with all of my clients. I’ve been lucky to have a really good experience.”
