AD Ports Group enters Uzbekistan logistics market through joint venture

UAE’s AD Ports Group and Uzbekistan’s SEG Enera Group have formed a joint venture (JV), ADL-Ulanish, which will provide end-to-end global logistics services in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

For the joint venture, AD Ports Group will bring its cutting-edge expertise in global supply chain logistics and advanced technology to the new company, with the goal of solving some of the logistics challenges faced by businesses in Uzbekistan, a doubly landlocked country that is Surrounded by five other landlocked countries.

SEG Enera Group will in turn contribute its regional expertise, best practices and industrial assets, including warehousing capabilities, as well as rail and truck fleets.

Business needs

Through the joint venture, the two entities will serve not only the business needs of SEG Enera, but also the needs of other customers in the domestic market representing a range of industry sectors, including industrial project logistics, oil and gas, e-commerce, healthcare and pharmaceuticals .

ADL-Ulanish will provide various advanced services including: freight forwarding – air and land logistics; warehousing and storage; customs clearance services; development of inland container yards and dry ports. Additionally, the company will provide a range of digital solutions to facilitate service integration and efficiency, and bring food safety and supply chain expertise to support the establishment of a food hub in Uzbekistan.

Located at the crossroads of Asian and European markets and strategically located in the wider Central Asia region, Uzbekistan is an important global overland logistics hub, with the region’s GDP expected to grow from 3.9% in 2023 to 4.3% in 2024.

In June 2022, the UAE and Uzbekistan signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support cooperation in 27 areas, covering government modernization initiatives, to draw on the UAE’s experience and promote relations between the two countries. — trade arab news agency
