As the UAE capital’s tech ecosystem expands from 2023, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has announced support for three innovative global companies.
ADIO’s support of Ubisoft, Insilico Medicine and Applied AI Company (AAICO) will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s technology, research and development (R&D) and operational capabilities, building technical talent and infrastructure to foster cross-industry innovation.
These three companies are at the forefront of innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming. Ubisoft is a leading creator, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and services. Insilico Medicine is a market leader in pharmaceutical technology, utilizing AI for rapid drug discovery, synthesis and testing. AAICO is a UK-based technology company focused on building products to automate and enhance mission-critical processes within the health and safety sector.
ADIO is providing full support and will work closely with each company to pioneer new technologies and products in the UAE capital. New partnerships boost the local innovation ecosystem, with ADIO supporting 12 technology companies in the past 12 months, including Noon, Siemens Energy, Liquidity Capital, Innovaccer and OurCrowd.

Headquartered in France, Ubisoft is one of the largest video game companies, developing, publishing and distributing games for consoles, PCs and mobile devices. Ubisoft has been working in Abu Dhabi for 10 years. The company has developed, published and marketed several mobile games and is developing a new mobile game from its Abu Dhabi-based games studio, which is now becoming Area center.
Jean-Michel Detoc, Ubisoft Chief Mobile Officer, said: “Ubisoft has decided to strengthen its presence in the MENA region by strengthening Ubisoft Abu Dhabi’s role as a regional development hub within its network.

Insilico Medicine is a market leader in pharmaceutical technology, utilizing AI for rapid drug discovery, synthesis and testing. Insilico Medicine has developed a full-stack proprietary Pharma AI platform that enables rapid drug discovery while reducing R&D costs. Insilico Medicine has successfully sent one pulmonary fibrosis drug into clinical trials in record time, with others in late-stage development. Insilico Medicine will establish a regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi, focusing on the research and development of artificial intelligence platforms. Over the next four years, the Abu Dhabi-based team will play a key role in patent filing and proprietary intellectual property.

AAICO is a leading technology company focused on building products to automate and enhance mission-critical processes in the health and safety sector. AAICO established an Abu Dhabi Global Markets-based entity in 2022 and moved its global headquarters from London to Abu Dhabi. In 2023, AAICO’s international technology leadership team will help develop Abu Dhabi’s talent pool, thereby contributing to the expansion of Abu Dhabi’s technology ecosystem and the export of world-class AI products to the UK, North America and Europe. AAICO will also partner with universities in Abu Dhabi to offer a range of tailored knowledge transfer programmes, hackathons, exchange programs and internships.
