The Bridgeport family in Connecticut is looking for Answer After their relative, 23-year-old Lauren Smith-Fields, was found dead in her apartment earlier this month.
according to News 12 West ChesterOn December 12, Lauren was found unresponsive in her apartment. Her family said that she met an “older white man” on the dating app Bumble, who was the one who warned the authorities. At present, investigators have not made any comments on the incident, and the forensic doctor has not announced the official cause of death.
Lauren’s brother Rickhamjet said he asked the authorities about the older white man, who reportedly told him that he was a good man and did not need to be investigated.
Lauren’s father also told News 12: “There is no doubt that we know that my daughter is not a drug addict. I paid for the second autopsy because we were very uncomfortable with the treatment.” He continued, they said. The only contact with the police was with a “very insensitive, condescending and arrogant detective”.
The City of Bridgeport issued a statement stating: “The Bridgeport Police Department takes these concerns very seriously. The command staff of the Detective Bureau is reviewing the handling of this case to ensure that best practices are followed. It must be noted that Lauren Smith -The cause of Fields’ death is still under investigation. Our department expresses our deepest condolences to Lauren’s family.”
