Air France-KLM Group and Etihad Airways have recently unveiled an unprecedented partnership, solidifying their commitment to an integrated loyalty experience. This collaboration stems from a Memorandum of Understanding signed in September 2023 and is set to reshape the way members of Flying Blue (Air France and KLM’s loyalty program) and Etihad Guest (Etihad Airways’ loyalty program) engage with their benefits.
Seamless Mileage Experience: Earning and Redeeming Across Platforms
One of the key highlights of this collaboration is the ability for members to seamlessly earn and redeem miles across both loyalty programs. Whether flying with Air France, KLM, or Etihad, members can now enjoy a unified loyalty experience, unlocking a host of reciprocal benefits for elite members.
Expanding Connectivity: Over 60 New Routes Worldwide: Air France-KLM
The partnership, which officially went live on Monday, expands connectivity for customers, opening up access to more than 60 new routes covering destinations worldwide. This development coincides with Air France’s operational expansion from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Abu Dhabi International Airport since October 2022.
Rich Rewards: From Flights to Exclusive Products
Flying Blue Miles and Etihad Guest Miles offer a broad spectrum of rewards, ranging from flights and global hotel stays to car rentals and exclusive products available in their respective reward stores. The collaboration aims to enhance the overall travel and loyalty experience for the combined 20 million loyal Flying Blue members.
Shared Commitment: Enhancing the Global Travel Experience
Angus Clarke, Executive Vice-President, and Chief Commercial Officer at Air France-KLM expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the commitment to exploring opportunities in loyalty and expanding route networks.
Arik De, Chief Revenue Officer at Etihad, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaboration’s potential to benefit loyal guests and open up new opportunities within the program.
This historic collaboration not only signifies a landmark moment in airline partnerships but also underscores a shared commitment to delivering seamless, premium, and customer-centric travel experiences to a diverse global customer base. The partnership looks set to enhance the appeal of Abu Dhabi as a destination and hub, propelled by Etihad’s substantial footprint across South and Southeast Asia, as well as Australia.
